August 2011 Child Reintegration Program Update

"2011 has seen some significant changes in the reintegration team. We lost one of our team members when she left work, requiring us to find and train a new worker. Our driver of over five years has also recently moved on, and we have yet to appoint a new driver.

"The team works very well in uncovering the truth of the situations the children come from. Often times this requires that they make surprise visits to the house or that they interview neighbours or pastors of the church.

February 2011 Child Reintegration Program Update - A beautiful story of a life transformed

"The reintegration process has evolved over the 6 years since it was first begun. Our team is now well respected by other children's centres and by social welfare as having the capacity and funds to properly investigate each new child who comes to us and each child who is reintegrated.

December 2008 Child Reintegration Program Update

By the end of October we finalized approximately 300 home visits for 2008
and had a preliminary list of 23 probable younger children and youth who
could return home to their families. In the first week of November we
met personally with each of these kids/youth and talked to them about
moving back with their families. We answered any questions and concerns
they had. Some of course were reluctant to return, but after some
encouragement from the team, all left agreeing that this was the best
read more

Child Reintegration Program

Children come to Iris from very diverse situations. Many come because of the lack of adequate supervision in their own family situations. Children are often found by the Police running around the streets and neighbours houses, or are sick and have very poor health, many suffering from malnutrition. Many families are affected by poverty and the inability to support their own children.
