July 2010 Sue Silva Update

“It has been a different season in my life since the last update.

”In January 2010 I returned to Canada for some medical attention to my acoustic neuroma. After much prayer and medical consultation, the decision was made to have surgery, and the date was scheduled for April 19th.

December 2009 Sue Silva Update

"I only very recently returned to Malawi, after a time of refreshment in Canada. While there I learned that the ongoing acoustic neuroma in my right ear had grown to the place that it now needs to be dealt with. I will be returning to Canada in early January and will decide with the doctors at that time whether to have radiation treatments, or surgery to remove it.  The best option by far would be for the Lord to heal it!  Please pray for God's will to be done and for His Grace to be poured out on everyone and everything that is involved.

June 2009 Sue Silva Update

"I am still in preschool and loving it! We have our little routines and some push us to the limits........but over all, we have a fun time together. We had sent out a prayer request for a teacher and that has been answered.........potentially. A woman and her husband have come from Blantyre and are now looking for a house down here. She needs to get some paperwork in to Mo, then can start. I am very excited to have her on our team! I think she has what it takes. Pray for ease of transition, finding a home, a teachable spirit and quick adaptation to the Bangula area.

December 2008 Sue Silva Update

"I am reminded of a verse from Isaiah 40:28-29 - “The Lord is the Everlasting God...He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.” I am extremely grateful for this encouragement, as I daily feel weak. God has indeed guided and satisfied my needs in a sun-scorched land.... He has strengthened my frame and blessed me in so many ways.

"He has enabled me to develop relationships with some widows and orphans in the villages. I continue to visit, share and bring aid to them. Their smiles and songs bring joy to my heart.

April 2008 Sue Silva Update

My ministry here in Bangula is expanding. God has been opening up more doors in the villages and I’m feeling energized and on fire!! I am visiting and aiding some widows and orphans on a regular basis. It refreshes my heart as I go into the villages and sit with them and listen to their stories. They greet me wearing tattered rags, but with smiles on their faces, knowing someone cares about them and is God’s hands and feet to them.

September 2007 Sue Silva Update

"How can I begin to explain all that God is doing in me, in the children, and in all of our team here in Bangula??!! It is all so exciting!!!

March 2007 Sue Silva Update

"I stand in awe of my God for all that He has done! He has done marvelous deeds and I praise Him for His faithfulness, His grace, His mercy, His strength, His compassion and His love to me. I am more in love with Him than ever and am so content and grateful to be here in Bangula.

"Through the extreme heat, the abundance of rains and flooding, the massive amount of bugs - you know it’s a God thing when you can say, 'I am blessed beyond all measure'. This is my home.

October 2006 Sue Silva Update

"I still feel like the new kid on the block, having been in Bangula for just over 2 months. It has been a huge learning curve for me, but a great one because God is faithful and equipping me for His plans and purposes. God is teaching me reliance on His strength, that He is dependable, trustworthy and ever present. He is so very real and powerful and overwhelming in His love to me. It makes me hungry for more of my Precious Saviour.

Sue's Bio:

The Holy Spirit ignited Sue’s heart for mission when she went on two short-term trips, first to Guatemala in 2004, and then to Malawi in 2005. She felt the Lord’s call to ‘more’ and quickly sensed her heart and destiny being sealed in Africa. Sue left her home in Oakville, Ontario, with the blessing and support of her four grown children, and moved to Bangula, Malawi in June 2006.
