Missionary Updates

September 2007 Julie Davis Update

“As was mentioned in the March update, God has given us two new vehicles. God's timing is always perfect. As you all know, we struggled amidst the major flooding of the Zambezia River, and the trucks were very useful for carrying emergency supplies to all of our precious Mozambican families who had lost everything. I stayed in Dondo organizing truck loads of items for the missionaries who were out in the flood areas. We did our best to get food and blankets to those in need, as quickly as possible.

September 2007 Nancy Anderson Update

"These last months have been ones of great suffering for many Mozambicans throughout the country. February brought severe flooding in the Zambezi area in the north of Mozambique, leaving thousands as refugees seeking shelter in camps in small grass huts. At the same time, a large cyclone seriously damaged the city of Vilanculos in central Mozambique. Ironically, while the north was flooded, the south saw crops fail due to severe drought.

May 2007 Miriam Kirk Update

"As we are heading into our winter season, many varieties of flowers and trees continue to bloom and bear fruit. In the same way, God continues to bring a harvest here in Mozambique, in the midst of difficult circumstances. My heart has been wrenched over the last several months, as our precious Mozambicans have endured many devastations, such as self-exploding missiles and bombs, horrific flooding, cholera outbreaks and the threat of mini-tsunamis. Yet I place all confidence in the faithful promises of God to bring beauty out of ashes, and to work all things together for good.

March 2007 Julie Davis Update

"As I wrote in February, we have been believing God for a new truck and we knew that it was on it's way! Praise God - we are receiving a brand new land rover and a half ton truck. Now we will have lots of room for food distribution and for all of our equipment. I am soooo excited!!! God is sooo faithful."

March 2007 Matt Smith Update

"WOW, what a journey God has taken me on over the last 6 months. When I first moved to Malawi the ‘plan’ was to stay for one year and then return to Canada. The Lord had a different plan!

March 2007 Sue Silva Update

"I stand in awe of my God for all that He has done! He has done marvelous deeds and I praise Him for His faithfulness, His grace, His mercy, His strength, His compassion and His love to me. I am more in love with Him than ever and am so content and grateful to be here in Bangula.

"Through the extreme heat, the abundance of rains and flooding, the massive amount of bugs - you know it’s a God thing when you can say, 'I am blessed beyond all measure'. This is my home.

March 2007 David & Joanna Morrison Update

Almost four years after arrival in Bangula, the Morrisons have become somewhat accustomed to the ups and downs, the seemingly continual challenges faced by a people largely forgotten by the world. Even the north of Malawi forgets the south, where harvests have been poor to nil for the past four years. The crops have to survive intermittent and very heavy rains, very large and ravenous bugs, and birds, and finally drought. The people continue to survive. "We are overwhelmed daily by the needs of thousands - the hungry, naked, sick, homeless, and orphaned.

February 2007 Miriam Kirk Update

"It's always great to see our children's joy and anticipation as we celebrate Christmas here in Pemba. Christmas Eve we had a candlelight service unlike any other. Christmas day dawned, and our very excited children each received a gift bag of treasures. We thank God that there were also presents to hand out to each of the village children who came to our centre on Christmas Day.

"It has been good to continue on with a weekly teenage girls group. We share singing and a short message, refreshments, and once a month a birthday cake.

February 2007 Don & Elizabeth Kantel Update

In addition to growing responsibilities in their respective leadership roles at the Pemba Base—that of Associate Director for Don and Long-Term Placement for Elizabeth—the Kantels have found ourselves increasingly focused on facilitating medical ministry and outreach in the region and on model development projects in the nearby village of Mieze.

February 2007 John & Sandra Ewert Update

”After a quick trip back to Canada in December for our eldest daughter's wedding, we started our 2007 Bible school session in our brand new school building. This has been a thrill for us personally, seeing the completion of this part of the building project.

”As we reflect on the past four and one half years here at the Zimpeto centre, we see time and time again the faithfulness of God and marvel at His goodness. Recently, we experienced the Lord’s protection from an attempted car-jacking late one night.
