October 2006 Matt Smith Update

"The work that that I have been doing is not completely what I expected it to be when I arrived. The main focus has been construction and getting the facility up and operational, but there has been so much more! From spending time with our Iris kids; training workers and other labourers; going into the bush on evangelism trips - life has been full! One of the highlights has come in spending time with the children, mentoring them, and teaching them about the love of the Father. It is truly amazing to see these children, who arrive malnourished and sick, soon become strong and energetic.

"We are now well into our third building project since my arrival. I've seen the development of a longterm missionary housing unit and two children's homes. Construction in Bangula is interesting! We have all taught each other new ways!!

"Over the last month I have had the opportunity to see some of God’s awesome creation. This country is so varied and I have often asked myself how anyone could be in this place and not stand in awe of our creator. I have been to some of the highest peaks of Malawi and dove below the surface of the water, exploring and worshiping. What a awesome God we serve! "There is much work to done here, but brick by brick, life by life, the country is changing. Thank you for your involvement in this! I have felt the support of so many, and that has been amazing!"
