October 2006 John & Sandra Ewert Update

"The Spring term at the Bible school was very hectic, due to a shortage of teachers. That said, it was also one of the richest times we've experienced, as the Holy Spirit kept on manifesting His presence in surprising ways. Even during announcements at the end of the day, somehow we managed to be sprawled all over the place, drinking deeply from His presence as He fell on us.

"At the end of school term in April, we were finally able to go to Portugal for some much needed language study. We had six weeks of intensive grammar study. While this hasn't made us fluent, it is a huge step in the right direction! Our spare time was spent shopping for things for our Zimpeto base. Children's books are in such limited supply in Mozambique, and in Portugal are readily available. The biggest challenge was choosing from the large selections!! There is a library that is operational at the centre, and it has been a huge blessing to the children. We were so happy to be able to bring back lots of new materials for their enjoyment. In addition, we were able to purchase books for the Bible school. Again, the choices in Portugal are much greater than in Mozambique.

"After our studies we travelled to Canada and the United States, and had wonderful family times catching up with our children. Leaving family behind is a continual challenge for those on the field. Although we weren't able to visit with as many of our friends and churches as we would have liked, we are so thankful for the connections that were made. It was a precious time and we are so thankful for it. We stopped in England en route back for a few speaking engagements, and are now back home and preparing for the next session at the Bible school. We anticipate great things!"
